RATES & SESSION INFORMATION:

Session: I shoot Monday-Sunday, as needed. Appointment times start as early as 9:30 a.m. The last appointment of the day begins no later than 2 p.m.

Time: A (1) person headshot session is slotted 2 hours. (2) siblings, up to 3 hours. More time will be allowed upon considering the client’s needs (i.e. print work, image for CD cover, etc.)

Studio: A natural light studio located at 2222 S. Figueroa Street, Suite PH27, LA 90007. It is just south of the Staples Center and the 10 Freeway and just East of the 110.

Lighting: I use natural light because of its complimentary qualities in regard to people’s skin tones and the resulting reflective pop in the eyes. If the sky is completely overcast or it is raining, I will be rescheduling the shoot. (Bad lighting produces no reflective pop in the eyes, dull skin tones and unflattering shadows.)

Wardrobe: 4-5 wardrobe changes per session. I love people to bring more clothes than we shall end up using so that we can look at the clothes together and choose the strongest pieces. Some experienced clients arrive with simply 2 or 3 articles of clothing, as they firmly have a course in mind. That works for me too.

I suggest that you assess your hair color, eye color and skin tone and consider hues that are the most complimentary, and weed out those that are not. (For example: I am pretty light-skinned and if I do not have a tan, wearing yellow will make me look quite sallow.)

Choose colors to enhance you.

Wardrobe is not supposed to distract the casting director’s eye from looking firstly, and most importantly, at your face. The ideal is to wear solid colors that compliment and lead to your face. That being said, I have been known to shoot people wearing patterned or plaid shirts, so if you have a favorite item, bring it and we’ll see if it works.

Look through your wardrobe and, if possible, choose varying styles. We all have different sides to our personality (i.e. sexy, girly, tomboyish, tough, conservative, quirky), and I recommend--if you want--to bring clothes that reflect the multilayers of you.

Theatrical (film and television) headshots are generally more dramatic shots so many people lean towards wearing darker colors.

Commercials sell products--typically with a smile--so for commercial headshots, you tend to wear lighter-colored and casual clothes.

And, finally, every rule is meant to be broken, so, keep the aforementioned in mind, but don’t be hampered by it.
